Ask \u00e2\u20ac\u201d will this benefit or harm me?<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Contrary to popular belief, those with bad intentions are not the most harmful. In fact, those with good intentions are the most dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why? We are easier to get suckered by them, and more likely to have them do harmful things to us (when in actuality they are trying to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153help\u00e2\u20ac\u009d us). Nassim Taleb calls them the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153interventionalistas\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00e2\u20ac\u201d those who intervene with good intentions, and actually end up doing far more harm than good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, an insane amount of bad was done during the Crusades, for \u00e2\u20ac\u0153good\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. I wonder also those who are also promoting GMO foods (to help end \u00e2\u20ac\u0153world hunger\u00e2\u20ac\u009d) are also doing 1000x worse than good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why are those with good intentions so dangerous?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Because we are more likely to listen and obey them, even though it may run contrary to our own instincts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus when others offer \u00e2\u20ac\u0153help\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00e2\u20ac\u201d don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think about their intentions (whether good or bad). Rather think \u00e2\u20ac\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will this benefit or harm me?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
