{"id":305950,"date":"2021-03-10T09:10:13","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T14:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/?p=305950"},"modified":"2021-03-10T09:13:29","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T14:13:29","slug":"minimalism-maximalism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2021\/03\/10\/minimalism-maximalism\/","title":{"rendered":"MINIMALISM &#038; MAXIMALISM."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It seems the modern trend is towards minimalism \u00e2\u20ac\u201d minimalism in appearance, in possessions, in lifestyle, etc. Essentially <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/07\/28\/minimalism-is-the-new-elitism\/\">minimalism as the noveau elitism<\/a> \u00e2\u20ac\u201d only the rich and wealthy can <em>afford<\/em> to be minimalist. For example, note that when traveling, the poor tend to travel with LOTS of suitcases \u00e2\u20ac\u201d just in case they need something while traveling. Whereas the rich can just buy it, just in case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But this is my critique:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>One should not be minimalist in everything. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some domains in which it is good to be minimalist, and also some domains in which it is good to be maximalist. Some thoughts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-self-negation-or-self-expansion\">Self negation or self expansion?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery minimalism is to minimize the unnecessary superfluous stuff and actions in your life in order to maximize your artistic and creative flourishing and output.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again \u00e2\u20ac\u201d it ain\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t minimalism for minimalism sake. It is minimalism <em>in order to<\/em> maximize your artistic production!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-too-much-consistency-in-life-is-bad\">Too much consistency in life is bad.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2021\/03\/09\/convictions-are-prisons\/\">Convictions are prisons<\/a>. A foolhardy conviction towards minimalism for the sake of minimalism is foolish. We should only harness minimalism when it serves our needs \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <strong>wise minimalism<\/strong> is the goal.
