{"id":277146,"date":"2020-09-27T12:06:26","date_gmt":"2020-09-27T16:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/?p=277146"},"modified":"2020-09-27T12:08:28","modified_gmt":"2020-09-27T16:08:28","slug":"beyond-clever-and-ironic-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/09\/27\/beyond-clever-and-ironic-photos\/","title":{"rendered":"Beyond \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Clever\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and Ironic Photos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of my critiques in photography:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Too many photographers strive to make photos which are \u00e2\u20ac\u0153ironic\u00e2\u20ac\u009d or \u00e2\u20ac\u0153clever\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in terms of composition, layers, etc.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, towards a critique of <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/15\/10-things-alex-webb-can-teach-you-about-street-photography\/\">Alex Webb<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2019\/11\/09\/how-to-shoot-layers-in-street-photography-composition\/\">\u00e2\u20ac\u0153layered\u00e2\u20ac\u009d style of street photography<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Photographers are trying to see how clever they can get with the layers in their photos instead of trying to make deep and meaningful and emotionally-stirring images. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Photos which are simple, severe and strong and great in impact regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/composition\/\">composition<\/a> is far superior to any street photo with a quadrillion layers, a quadrillion random heads poking out, etc.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"fmrSHImOBU\"><a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/composition\/\">COMPOSITION<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute;
