{"id":276348,"date":"2020-09-25T20:21:37","date_gmt":"2020-09-26T00:21:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/?p=276348"},"modified":"2020-09-25T20:21:41","modified_gmt":"2020-09-26T00:21:41","slug":"self-development-over-happiness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/09\/25\/self-development-over-happiness\/","title":{"rendered":"Self Development Over Happiness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Virtue =\/ Happiness<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bias in philosophy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The end-game is to maximize your personal happiness (often hedonic happiness).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Then comes the notion of &#8216;eudaemonia&#8217; (human flourishing) or it literally means in Greek: Good (eu) + Daemonia (your inner-spirit, soul).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What do you do once you&#8217;ve maxed out your happiness stats?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I have had many days where I have maxed out my happiness stats. I felt like a 12\/10 in terms of the happiness scale. But once I hit it \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 it was kind of &#8216;whatever&#8217;. Which made me think:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Perhaps there is a more interesting and noble goal than base happiness.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Beyond happiness<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Then this is my thought:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>To continually self-develop yourself is the goal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Not self &#8220;improvement&#8221; (self improvement assumes that there is something defunct with you). No; there is nothing wrong with you. You are already great. The goal then is to augment your (already existing) awesome to the max and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What types of self development?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems the best form of self development is a combination of almost everything. For me, I like this idea:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Augment your physical and physiological strength (powerlifting, muscle augmentation) to the max, be cut (less than 10% body fat, so you can see your 6-pack), and also augment your artistic, creative, and philosophical spirit to the max.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Then the goal?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Use your own life as an experiment to see how far you can thrive!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>ERIC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Virtue =\/ Happiness The bias in philosophy: The end-game is to maximize your personal happiness (often hedonic happiness).
