Communism means \u00e2\u20ac\u0153all is one, and all is communal\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. If <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/08\/08\/facebook-is-good-instagram-is-bad\/\">Facebook<\/a> becomes the only portal to your friends on the internet, isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t this bad?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AOL was just lame <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>AOL was awesome as a kid, getting access to the internet. AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) was fun when I was a kid. But it eventually died off. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m quite bullish that Facebook and Co will never become the <em>only<\/em> portal to the internet, but I just think Facebook is becoming a new digital caste system:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Poor and low class people use Facebook and Instagram, the true rich and privileged prize their privacy and will use things like <a href=\"https:\/\/telegram.org\">Telegram<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/signal.org\/en\/\">Signal<\/a> instead. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>And the truly uber-rich actually have the privilege of <em>NOT<\/em> needing to own a phone. The new ultimate reverse-flex:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/08\/04\/the-best-car-is-no-car\/\">NOT own a car<\/a><\/li><li>NOT own a home and mortgage <\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/16\/the-best-phone-is-no-phone-3\/\">NOT own a phone<\/a><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/08\/10\/via-negativa-wealth\/\">Via negativa wealth. <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An interesting insight which was spared by reading Chris Dixon on why decentralization matters: Centralization is bad for humanity.
