{"id":257620,"date":"2020-07-27T14:10:04","date_gmt":"2020-07-27T21:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/?p=257620"},"modified":"2020-07-27T14:14:08","modified_gmt":"2020-07-27T21:14:08","slug":"on-forming-your-own-opinion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/07\/27\/on-forming-your-own-opinion\/","title":{"rendered":"On Forming Your Own Opinion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My thought and critique:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Now in America (and beyond) you are no longer allowed to have your own opinion.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What I mean is this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The &#8216;thought police&#8217; (Politically Correct &#8220;PC&#8221; culture) makes people scared to voice their own opinion. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">America is great because we are a <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/07\/22\/maximally-tolerant-society\/\">tolerant<\/a> nation. In the future (today) we are no longer allowed to have independent thoughts. To share your thoughts which are contrary to those with political power is considered suicide. Even in higher education (college, university, masters programs, Ph.D. programs, etc), to have a non-liberal <a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/07\/19\/the-intolerant-left\/\">non-left view<\/a> is not tolerated. In other words, you cannot be a conservative and (publicly) be an academic and scholar who is pro-Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is &#8216;silence&#8217; truly &#8220;violence&#8221;?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don&#8217;t think so. I am often silent about certain matters because either I don&#8217;t know all the details, facts and context, because I don&#8217;t really care, or because I haven&#8217;t experienced it first-hand (<a href=\"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/13\/your-experiences-are-empirical\/\">empirical experience<\/a>).
