Very predictable. In modern life, there are really no downsides. You won&#8217;t die in some gruesome war. You won&#8217;t be sold into slavery. Similar to British values:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Increase comfort<\/li><li>Increase fashion<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We want more comfort. Softer shoes. Softer-riding cars (&#8216;luxury cars&#8217;). More comfortable living quarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We want more fashion. More fashionable clothes, watches, cars, devices, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To live a risky life isn&#8217;t one of our values. Honor, courage, and bravery. Death in battle. Eternal glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I feel these are far more interesting, noble, epic, and virtuous values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To be strong<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The word &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/value\">value<\/a>&#8216; comes from the Latin &#8220;valere&#8217;&#8211; to &#8220;be strong, be of worth.&#8221; Even when the ancient Romans would end a letter (like Seneca) they would say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;Vale&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Vale&#8211;
