{"id":174291,"date":"2019-09-26T12:40:28","date_gmt":"2019-09-26T19:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/?p=174291"},"modified":"2019-09-26T12:45:53","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T19:45:53","slug":"phones-are-overrated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/erickimphotography.com\/blog\/2019\/09\/26\/phones-are-overrated\/","title":{"rendered":"Phones are Overrated"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It seems to own <em>a<\/em> smartphone is better than to not own one, but the effect on buying a new phone on your personal happiness and productivity is insanely overrated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In praise of laptops<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It still seems that by far, the ultimate productivity device is still a laptop (MacBook Pro 13 inch touch bar, maxed out, refurbished).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For visual arts, I highly recommend iPad Pro (the normal size one).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">In praise of used and refurbished iPhones<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Today the iPhone is still the supreme smartphone by far. But perhaps the most economical and pragmatic thing we can do is simply buy 1-2 generation older iPhones (refurbished on Apple store or used) to maximize our &#8220;bang for the buck&#8221;. Based on my experiences, every new iPhone might only be 5-8% better than the prior generation; not that huge of a difference. Same philosophy goes with buying cars which are 3+ years old to maximize your savings (or buying a used Lamborghini).
