Monochrome tips:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I’ve been shooting a lot of high contrast monochrome on the RICOH GR III, and have been super inspired! I want to share some ideas with you, to hopefully motivate\/uplift you in your photography as well:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Inverse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Apply inverse to your photos to better understand the composition of your monochrome images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Gaussian Blur<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Another tip: apply ‘Gaussian Blur’ to your photos, to further abstract the images to better understand the composition!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Simplify the scene<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Strive towards the optimal simplicity of the scene. A good way to do this is to first find a good scene (not much clutter), and then wait for your subject to enter the frame (the ‘fishing technique’).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Extreme ends of the photo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When shooting a scene, put a subject on the extreme left or the right of the frame. Extra bonus points for getting your ‘selfie’ in the shadow of the photo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Hold your camera very high and shoot downwards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When you’re shooting street or anything else, hold your camera up super high and point downwards (in order to simplify your photos).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
