I’ve been shooting a lot with the Xiaomi 9 SE<\/a> recently (my new favorite phone-camera). The interesting thing is this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps the future of disruption in photography<\/a> is this: cameras that also happen to be phones.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In other words — we shouldn’t think of them as phones with good cameras. We should think of good cameras, that also have “phone” capabilities<\/strong> (ability to surf the web, publish\/share photos, send emails, etc).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

An all-in-one photography device\/tool<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Consider the disruptive<\/a> nature of phone-cameras:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Ability to shoot photos<\/li>
  2. Ability to select\/process photos<\/li>
  3. Ability to share\/publish photos<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    What else do you need from the photographic process? The phone covers all of this!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Should we still be calling it a ‘phone’?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    This is the irony:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We still call them phones, but nobody uses it to actually make phone calls.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

    I don’t really like calling them ‘devices’ either (the notion of a ‘device’ is too broad\/general for me).<\/p>\n\n\n
