My personal definition of a photo essay is an attempt to analyze a place, through images. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Dynamic change <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What I find so fascinating about Hanoi is the rapid change, industrialization, as well as the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153modernization\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noveau Vietnamese rich, massive malls, everyone with new iPhones, yet still respect for the traditional Vietnamese past. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also an interesting integration of nature and society in Hanoi\u00e2\u20ac\u201d what makes the city feel \u00e2\u20ac\u0153romantic\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For myself, I feel that the most important part of a photographic essay is this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explore yourself via photos. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This means use photography as a tool of self-examination and self-analysis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Things I learned about myself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. I prefer a nomadic life<\/li>
  2. I love coffee shops for creative stimulation and activity <\/li>
  3. I love walking <\/li>
  4. I love interacting with others; especially in foreign languages (it allows me to think more like a child)\u00e2\u20ac\u201d to be more open-minded. A \u00e2\u20ac\u0153tabula rasa\u00e2\u20ac\u009d approach or way of seeing\/experiencing the world.<\/li>
  5. I love the insanely fast WiFi (and pervasive access) in Hanoi (and most of big cities in Vietnam). I really think that Hanoi is a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153creative digital nomad paradise\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Adventure to Sapa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    One of the most exciting things \u00e2\u20ac\u201d going to Sapa, Vietnam and renting motor bikes and exploring. Ultimate bird-like feeling of freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I aspire to explore more of Vietnam, using motor bikes. Complete exposure to the environment, more fun than even a convertible car!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Life back home <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been back in the states for a few days (still jet lagged)\u00e2\u20ac\u201d but I think I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve had enough time to reflect and think about my experiences in Hanoi (and just life in general). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Some thoughts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Living or being in a dynamic and growing economy is the best and most fun. <\/li>
    2. Creative activity is the goal. <\/li>
    3. American mentality is too focused on physical stuff\/consumerism to fight off boredom. I personally prefer simplicity, minimalism, and elegance. <\/li>
    4. I am becoming more and more anti-stuff\u00e2\u20ac\u201d I would prefer to own few things which are bespoke to me. <\/li>
    5. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m wondering \u00e2\u20ac\u201d what is the future of photography considering I can make epic photos with a $350 Xiaomi 9SE phone. Should I experiment more with phone photography and AI, digital medium format, and continue to build software\/technological platforms for photography? (Arsbeta.com<\/a>). <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
