Why I love abstract art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To me, art is what you get from it, not what art gives you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I mean to say is this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love artwork that I am able to interpret on my own. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

I hate it when I need art to be \u00e2\u20ac\u0153explained\u00e2\u20ac\u009d to me. To me, it is simple \u00e2\u20ac\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I look at an artwork, I want to immediately like it or dislike it. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

You don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t need to like artwork that curators and other \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cultured\u00e2\u20ac\u009d folk tell you that you need to like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And for me, abstract art isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t about some pretentious curator telling me why it is so great. To me, I like abstract art because it is the pure distillation of energy, soul, and the vigor of the artist. When I see artworks which stimulate me, excite me, and put wings in my feet, it is good. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The abstract art of Franz Kline is effective at stimulating our senses and nervous system, *because* of the irregular brush strokes. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

For example, when you take away the brush strokes and make it less dynamic (perfectly straight and regular lines), the image loses its soul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimately I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t believe in an objectively \u00e2\u20ac\u0153good\u00e2\u20ac\u009d or \u00e2\u20ac\u0153bad\u00e2\u20ac\u009d judgement of artwork. To me, if the artwork motivates you to make more of your own artwork, it is good!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to discover artworks which inspire you <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I really think that random discovery is one of the best ways to discover new artworks to inspire and motivate you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only way I randomly discovered Franz Kline is through looking at a random assortment of modern art. I looked at about 50 modern artists, and only the work of Franz Kline and Jackson Pollock spoke to me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
