During the 3-day workshop, we will focus on the following topics:<\/p>\n

  2. How to master composition<\/strong> in street photography and develop your visual literacy<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. How to create a memorable body of work<\/strong> and the secrets of unforgettable images<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. How to focus on a project <\/strong>rather than just single images<\/li>\n
  5. One-on-one counseling<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0on what to look for when shooting on the streets<\/li>\n
  6. How to identify your weakest images and\u00c2\u00a0effectively edit and sequence your work<\/strong><\/li>\n
  7. An\u00c2\u00a0in-depth study<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0of famous Magnum and contemporary street photographers<\/li>\n
  8. Personalized street photography assignments<\/strong> to push you to the next level<\/li>\n
  9. How to develop a visual consistency<\/strong> in your work<\/li>\n

    The workshop will also be tailored to your individual needs<\/strong>, and you will have tons of personal 1:1 time<\/strong> with myself to answer any specific technical, compositional, or related street photography questions you may have. Throughout the weekend we will also give you street photography assignments<\/strong> that will break you outside of your comfort zone and help you take your street photography to the next level.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Workshop Schedule<\/h2>\n

    Day 1 (Friday night) – 5-9pm<\/h3>\n

    The workshop will start at 5pm on Friday night, which will give you the opportunity to meet and introduce yourself<\/strong> to the rest of the workshop participants.<\/p>\n

    After getting to know one another better we will have a portfolio review<\/strong>. You will share your portfolio with myself and the rest of the group, where we will give you constructive criticism on your work (the strength of your work, what you can do to improve your work, and feedback in terms of composition and story-telling). There will also be some time for you to formulate your street photography project<\/strong> for the workshop.<\/p>\n

    For dinner we will\u00c2\u00a0go out with us to eat in San Francisco a<\/strong>nd we will have the chance to talk about the weekend street photography project, and spend more time to get to know one another.<\/p>\n

    After good food and drinks, you will go home and edit\/post-process your best images of the night<\/strong> and bring them in for review on the next day.<\/p>\n

    Day 2 (Saturday) – 10am-6pm<\/h3>\n

    After an exciting first night (and hopefully a good night of rest) we meet at the workshop space in the morning and enjoy some breakfast, tea and coffee. You will then share your best photos from the night before<\/strong>, where we will give you personalized<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0feedback and critique<\/strong> on your images. We will give you honest and critical comments on your work – rather than just the fluffy-duffy comments you might get on Flickr like “nice shot” or “cool bokeh”. We will be be honest and direct with your work to help you become better in street photography and develop your own voice – which will help you tremendously.<\/p>\n

    We will then enjoy a nice filling lunch together (which is included in the workshop fee) and chat more amongst ourselves about one another and of course, street photography.<\/p>\n

    Once we finish our delicious lunch, I will be leading a presentation on Advanced Street Photography Composition Techniques in Street Photography.<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0 We will be using famous examples of the master street photographers and contemporary masters to better help build your visual literacy.\u00c2\u00a0<\/strong>This will better help you understand why certain photographs work and why other photographs don’t work. This will also help you better understand how to critique your own work and the work of others.<\/p>\n

    After this\u00c2\u00a0presentation, I will present photos from my ongoing “Suits” project and share the stories behind the photos. I will use my personal experiences working on this project and give you insights on how you can apply it to your own street photography projects.<\/p>\n

    You will then be given a street photography assignment based on your personal needs<\/strong>, and we will hit the energetic streets of San Francisco once again. For those who are interested, we will also have dinner and drinks afterwards as well.<\/p>\n

    Day 3 (Sunday) – 10am-6pm<\/h3>\n

    By Sunday morning, you will be exhausted (in a good way). You will have already had two days of shooting in the exotic streets of San Francisco, while being totally immersed in street photography, and you will know the other participants in the workshop well.<\/p>\n

    But the fun won’t end, because we will have one more morning of shooting the streets of San Francisco<\/strong> (to get your final photos ready to present for Sunday evening).<\/p>\n

    Once we get back to the workshop venue, we will have a hearty lunch and then get to the hardest part of the workshop – the editing and sequencing of the photography we shot in the entire weekend. We will teach you the fundamentals of workflow in Lightroom 5<\/strong>, and how to quickly edit and sort your images to create sets with visual cohesion<\/strong> and sense. We will teach you how to be brutal with your own images, and how to select only your finest work to share with others.<\/p>\n

    Then you will have time to look at the photos you have taken over the 3 days, and choose your best shots to present to the rest of the group. We will sit right alongside you, and help you choose your best images – and tell why certain of your images work or don’t work. We will also give you some great tips & tricks in Lightroom 5<\/strong>\u00c2\u00a0and Silver Efex Pro 2<\/strong> to create beautiful black & whites and eye-popping color images.<\/p>\n

    After choosing your best images from SF, you will present your best shots and get direct feedback & critique<\/strong> from myself and the rest of the class. We will be open and honest with you, and give you some of the best critique on your images that you have received in your life. The feedback will be well-thought out, direct, and critical – and will help you better understand your personal style and voice in street photography. You will find this part of the workshop to incredibly fulfilling and helpful.<\/p>\n

    At the end of the workshop, we will go out and have dinner and drinks with one another – exchange our contact information with one another, and continue our journey in street photography (and also make meaningful life-time connections).<\/p>\n
