Much of street photography is surrealism, owing to the surrealist tendencies in our godfather, Henri Cartier-Bresson<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Let me share some examples from some photographers who I love.<\/p>\n

Lars Tunbjork (Office series)<\/h1>\n

1. Overlap technique<\/h2>\n

Overlap certain elements, like it looks that the flower is an Alien parasite, sucking the blood out of the office worker (metaphor):<\/p>\n

2. Houdini trick<\/h2>\n

This photo by Lars, it’s like a Houdini trick: legs on top, and persons head on bottom of this guillotine:<\/p>\n

3. Disorienting perspective<\/h2>\n

Which way is up?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

4. “Let me out of here!”<\/h2>\n

We know nobody is stuck inside the locker, but the stuck necktie makes us think otherwise!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

5. Framing inside the frame<\/h2>\n

The Japanese man looks like he’s wired and plugged into this metaphorical wire lattice. Like being plugged into the Matrix<\/a>:<\/p>\n

6. Decapitation technique<\/h2>\n

Learned this one from Mark Cohen<\/a>, who loved to just show closeups of hands and limbs, and cut off the eyes.<\/p>\n
