Is satisfaction good? Is dissatisfaction bad? #zenoferic

An overview of modern life

A lot of us in life are dissatisfied. I think dissatisfaction can be a good thing, if we use our dissatisfaction as a stimulus to create epic shit, or to change the world for the better. But, I think it’s good to find satisfaction with basic stuff, like food, shelter, transportation, etc.

But what I wish to do is pursue more this concept of satisfaction, and dissatisfaction. When is satisfaction good and bad? When is dissatisfaction good or bad?

Definition of satisfaction

According to wiktionary, the definition of satisfaction (from the Latin, ‘satisfacio’:

satisfaciō (present infinitive satisfacere, perfect active satisfēcī, supine satisfactum); third conjugation iō-variant, irregular passive voice

I satisfy, content

I secure, pay off

I apologize, make amends

To satisfy means to content, to secure, pay off (debt), apologize, or make amends.

In modern society, I think we define “satisfaction” as “contentment”. We are “satisfied” in life if we feel contented with our possessions, salary, influence, etc.

But a cow is content. Is it truly contentment we desire in life?

I think we should be content with the basic stuff: clothes, food, housing, etc. But we shouldn’t be content with life and society. I think it’s part of the human DNA to want to improve society, to improve technology, and to improve life.

So to wrap up, my conclusion is this:

Be content with the basics in life for living, but don’t be content with your artwork. Strive to always push your artistry to the next level. But appreciate your artistic journey and growth in life!
