Some personal notes, from reaching the first apology letter of Justin the Martyr<\/a> (early Christian), on why he was a Christian, and followed the teachings and philosophy of Jesus:<\/p>\n

1. Immortal soul<\/h2>\n

You can kill the body; but not the soul.<\/p>\n

2. Practical Christianity<\/h2>\n

Christianity as the best practical philosophy for living.<\/p>\n

3. Teach what you live<\/h2>\n

Live accordingly; and make sure your teachings are in accordance with your actions.<\/p>\n

4. Winged soul<\/h2>\n

\n Our souls are winged with a desire of a life of eternal duration and purity.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

5. Agape love<\/h2>\n

Agape: Selfless love \u00e2\u20ac\u201d different from erotic love. Love for all of human kind.<\/p>\n

6. Beatific state<\/h2>\n

To live in a \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcbeatific state\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 \u00e2\u20ac\u201d true blessedness.<\/p>\n

7. Heaven on earth<\/h2>\n

Heaven exists on earth, not in the sky:<\/p>\n

\n The primitive Christians were so warmed with the expectation of a Kingdom in the Heavens; that they did little else but prepare to die; and took the first opportunity they could of getting out of the world.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

8. Universal Love<\/h2>\n

The duty of \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcuniversal love\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. Pray for your enemies; love your haters; and do good unto those who try to harm you:<\/p>\n

\n Pray for your enemies, love those who hate you; and do good unto them who curse and despitefully use you.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

9. Give to those who ask<\/h2>\n

If one asks; give:<\/p>\n

\n Give to everyone who asks.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

10. Never betray your soul<\/h2>\n

Even if i gain the whole world; why sacrifice your soul?<\/p>\n

\n Where your treasure is; there will your heart be also.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

11. Turn the other cheek<\/h2>\n

Forgive 70×7 times, as Jesus said:<\/p>\n

\n Whoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek; turn to him the other also. if he takes away thy cloak; forbid not to take thy coat also.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

12. Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be angry with others<\/h2>\n

\n Whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of hell-fire\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

13. Share your light with others<\/h2>\n

\n Let your light shine before men; so they may see your good works\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

14. Infinite patience<\/h2>\n

\n If he compels thee to go a mile; go two miles with him.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

15. Beware wolves in sheep\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s clothing<\/h2>\n

\n Many shall come to you in name of sheep\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s clothing; but inwardly are ravening wolves.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

16. Separation of God and State<\/h2>\n

From Jesus:<\/p>\n

\n Render unto caesar the things which are Caesar\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and unto God the things that are God\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s<\/p>\n

For unto whomever god has given much; of him much shall be required.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

17. Virgin birth?<\/h2>\n

\n ‘By declaring the Logos, the First-begotten of God, our Master Jesus Christ, to be born of a Virgin without any human mixture, and to be crucified and dead, and to have rose again and ascended into heaven, and to have rose again and ascended into heaven, we say no more in this than what you say of those whom you style in the sons of Jove (Jupiter).\u00e2\u20ac\u2122\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

18. Avoid serpents<\/h2>\n

\n The ringleader and prince of evil spirits is by us called the serpent, and Satan, and false accuser.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

19. Avoid bitter that turns sweet<\/h2>\n

\n Woe be to them who call bitter sweet; and sweet bitter.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

20. Serve humankind<\/h2>\n

I was made for the sake of mankind<\/strong><\/p>\n

21. What is a sheep without a shepherd?<\/h2>\n

We all like sheep have gone astray.<\/p>\n

\n Showered down upon them the powers of the Spirit; go in strength, and from their mission were called apostles.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

21. What to avoid<\/h2>\n

Avoid the delusions of mankind.<\/p>\n

Cast out devils frequently.<\/p>\n

22. Why sign of the cross?<\/h2>\n

\n Navigation depends on sails; which are made in the fashion of a cross.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We need a cross to plow or dig.<\/p>\n

We are like a cross; when we stand.<\/p>\n

Sign of cross; pious custom \u00e2\u20ac\u201d to revive faith; remind of God.<\/p>\n

23. Rebirth<\/h2>\n

\n Unless you are born again ; you cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Forgiveness:<\/p>\n

\n Though your sins be as scarlet; they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be white as wool.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

24. Eucharist<\/h2>\n

Amen means \u00e2\u20ac\u0153truth\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Eucharist is given to only true believers.<\/p>\n
