What is the first mission of an entrepreneur?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Just cover your rent and food.<\/p>\n

Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t aim to make billions<\/h2>\n

The biggest mistake we make as entrepreneurs is that we rush to make a million (or nowadays) a billion dollars. We focus on growth, profits, and to (quickly) gain power and influence.<\/p>\n

I feel this is a horrible way to pursue entrepreneurship. Why? Because it isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t grounded in reality.<\/p>\n

We should first start off by just covering our basic expenses in life. Just to cover our rent, food, and wifi connection (and of course, coffee).<\/p>\n

Think starving college student lifestyle<\/h2>\n

A lot of entrepreneurs want to learn how to make a killing and to become wealthy. My suggestion: first try to aim to make a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153living.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Think of when you were a starving college student. You were still alive then, why can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t you do it now?<\/p>\n

You might think your children, mortgage payments, or other \u00e2\u20ac\u0153serious\u00e2\u20ac\u009d commitments hold you back.<\/p>\n

But honestly, you can downscale. You can downgrade your life. You can get rid of your car, sell your expensive home (or move out of your expensive neighborhood), stop eating out, and reduce your expenses to the bare minimum.<\/p>\n

I feel the easiest way to gain more independence, time, and money is to reduce<\/em> or subtract<\/em> superfluous things from our life \u00e2\u20ac\u201d rather than trying to \u00e2\u20ac\u0153gain\u00e2\u20ac\u009d more.<\/p>\n

First, survive.<\/h2>\n

If you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re starting off creating your own business, freelancing in photography, or whatever\u00e2\u20ac\u201d just make your first mission to be covering rent and food.<\/p>\n

Then the secret to becoming wealthy is to not<\/em> die, and to not<\/em> go bust, and not<\/em> to go bankrupt.<\/p>\n

Survival is first, thriving is second.<\/p>\n
