What is the difference between a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153so-so\u00e2\u20ac\u009d photograph, and a great photograph? For me it is simple \u00e2\u20ac\u201d you just want to have a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cherry on top\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in your photograph (a small detail which elevates a good photo to a great photo).<\/p>\n

Often you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t notice a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cherry on top\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in your photos while you shoot it. Often, you will notice it after-the-fact. You will notice it in the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153editing\u00e2\u20ac\u009d phase of your photography \u00e2\u20ac\u201d when you are inspecting your photos after you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve shot them.<\/p>\n

A \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cherry on top\u00e2\u20ac\u009d can be a small detail in the background. It can be a certain person, face, or hand-gesture. It is a little \u00e2\u20ac\u0153extra something\u00e2\u20ac\u009d which adds additional interest, depth, or emotion to your frame.<\/p>\n

This is why I encourage you to take lots of photos of an interesting scene. Because the more photos you take, the more likely you are to find an interesting \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cherry on top\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in the scene, that you might not be able to see while<\/em> you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re shooting.<\/p>\n

Sometimes the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153cherry on top\u00e2\u20ac\u009d can be eye-contact. Sometimes it can be the body-language or hand-gesture of your subject. Sometimes it can be having an extra subject in your frame.<\/p>\n
