I’ve been having fun shooting RAW + JPEG on RICOH GR II, with ERIC KIM PRESETS.
All in all, photography should be seen as visual experimentation, and fun.
For too long, I’ve treated photography like a zero-sum sport, where I’m “competing” with other photographers. Seeing who can gain more likes, followers, and fame. Now, I don’t care about that social media rat race.
Now, I am like a child, in a visual laboratory (the world), making visual experiments with my camera.
Wonderment & Awe
I accidentally processed my JPEG images with my preset, and the effect is very harsh. But I kind of like it. I like the apocalyptic feel. I like how intense and overly-processes it is.
The biggest reason I like it, because these pictures make me excited. I love the tones of the reds and oranges… and it encourages me to explore more, and shoot more. And see what I can squeeze out of this little RICOH GR II sensor.
Experiment
Experiment with your composition, post processing, and shooting subject matter and style. Have fun. Break things. Explore.
See the visual limits of reality, and seek to break them. See the Truman Show Wall (refer to the movie) and break THOUGH it, and BEYOND it.
In short, don’t make pictures that look like ‘true to real life.’ Rather, paint your own reality.
BE CREATIVE EVERYDAY,
ERIC
