I wonder if cruise ships will never be allowed to sail again. The thought:
When I was photographing the cruise ships, I had no idea COVID would happen, making it impossible to go on a cruise ship ever again.
Which makes me think:
Perhaps we should approach photography like this: Whatever you photograph, it might be the last.
The reason why cruise ships are very bad when it comes to the spread of infectious diseases is because it is easy for one person to infect everyone on the ship. Even if all the passengers on the ship are American, if they give it to even one of the cruise workers (many of them come from all around the globe like places such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, or places in Africa), the infection will spread all around the globe. Not a good idea if you want to curb the spread of COVID 19 or any similar things.

You only live once. Perhaps this is the best way to approach photography and life? Shoot it like it were your last.
