How to Take Better Photos of Your Kids

It seems a lot of people get into photography once they have a kid. And rightfully so.

I think we as parents, whether old or new, desire to photograph document and memorialize the growth of our children. some personal lessons:

1. Every opportunity is a good opportunity

3.

Do not differentiate. Do not see the exotic as superior to the ordinary and every day. if you see that every day is of the same worth, then every day and every moment is worthy of you.

2. It all starts from birth

If possible, photograph the birth of your child. Celebrate the miracle of life.

3. shoot selfies with your kid

Do not see your child as an isolated event. Rather, your love for your child is more of a relationship between you and the child.

4. Practice Composition with your kid

To make better photos your kids, strive to make better compositions. Simple compositions include the triangle, or photographing one of your kids eye in the center of the frame.

Study street photography composition, because street photography is such a good approach to photographing children. The kids move very quickly, and everything is unpredictable. This is what makes it so worth it.

5. Clean background

A very simple thought: just photograph your kid like against a simple white background or black background. Or a gray background. The less the distractions in the background, the more you can focus on your child. This is the Richard Avedon technique.

6. Use a Ricoh gr 3 camera

What is the best camera to photograph your kids? Not the iPhone, and not even the iPhone pro. Get a Ricoh GR3 and just shoot small JPEG and high contrast black-and-white.

Even though I’m a huge fan of iPhone and Apple, the image aesthetics of a Ricoh gr 3 camera look at least 20 times as beautiful as any great iPhone picture. Also, the physical shutter button and ergonomics of the Ricoh GR three compact camera is superior than slippery iPhone.
