Some thoughts and ideas:

Black and white enhances what you see

With monochrome, it enhances what you see and makes it more dramatic and mysterious. Color is often too “normal” (like real life) and obvious. Assuming we are artists, we don’t need to make accurate depictions of reality. We desire to create our own *interpretations* of what we see.
