How to Improve Your Visual Intelligence

Visual intelligence — looking at images and being able to deconstruct them, determining *why* the images are great, and seeing the hidden shapes and forms *behind* the images, hiding in the shadows:

Study drawing manuals

Hokusai and his “Lessons on simplified drawing” as hugely informative:

Play and deconstruct drawings and compositions which you like

Study the masters of visual art

Study all the great renaissance painters (Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael) as well as the more modern masters. For modern art, I love Bauhaus, Picasso, cubist artists, impressionists, etc. And of course we got the big list of master photographers.

Iterate.

Nothing is perfect. Each time you experiment, iterate, and try something out, the more you shall understand it.
