How Should I Live?

I can speak for you, but this is how I like to live my life:

1. Physical culture

I love to lift weights (powerlifting, deadlift, squat, dumbell press) and also chinups and other physical activities.

Why do I love lifting weights?

First of all, the physiological response of weight lifting: elevated mood, elevated feelings of self confidence and power, and a chance for “zen meditation” (I treat the gym like my temple, where I can focus on myself, my thoughts, and connect deeper with my body).

Second, to become stronger is my virtue. To become physically stronger (increase my one rep max in my lifts). To see my muscles become bigger (greater delight in admiring my own physique, and seeing this growth).

With the gym and weight lifting, the results are physical and real:

  1. You see the numbers go up on your maximum lifts
  2. You see your muscles become bigger
  3. You see your proportions become more impressive in the mirror

Thus lifting weights is great because it’s the most obvious way you can see your growth and progress. Furthermore, it is 100% on you. You don’t need anyone else’s approval or help in order to build your physical strength and muscle. And it don’t matter your genetics, background, gender, sex, etc. Every biological human being has the capacity to increase their muscle mass and physical strength.

2. Create

Ultimately the goal is to create. Create words, create images, create stories, create ideas, create art.

The goal isn’t to become wise for the sake of it, or to become morally good. The goal is for you to continue to build your personal power in order to augment your inspiration to make art!

Thus spending much time during your day to:

  1. Write
  2. Think
  3. Read
  4. Photograph
  5. Sketch, paint, calligraphy

3. Move

Movement: literally walking much. The more you walk the more you think. The more epic thoughts enter your mind.

“The only thoughts which have value are the ones which come to you while walking.” – Nietzsche

The ideal life is when you’re walking as much as possible during the day (ideally as lightweight as possible, with the most minimal shoes possible).

My goals

Never stop thinking, making, walking, moving, and becoming more powerful!
