When I look through my photos, there are certain “activation pointsâ€which catch my eye. It seems:
- My eyes are activated at points of converging lines
- My eyes are activated from areas of extreme contrast and brightness
- My eyes are activated via parts of a photo which has an unusual texture that I want to inspect closer.
- Spots with depth of field changes and contrast.
- Hand gestures
- Eye contact
- Blur and a feeling of movement in the photo

Hand gesture

Veins in arm

Spiral movement in photo.

Detail of the sharpness of the lighting poles activates my eyes.

Textures in clouds activates my eyes.

Leading lines, and image irregularities (my hand) activates my eyes.

Dripping paint activates my eyes. Because it looks like movement.

Lots of white space moves my eyes.

Depth of field of this blob popping out at me activates my eyes. Why? Perhaps because I get the impression that the blob is sticking out of the photo, and might hit me in the face?
