Why is photography important and essential in our lives?

First of all, for many of us, photography is our primary art-creation medium. This means to photograph is for us to make art.

Connect deeper with reality

Secondly, to photograph IS to experience. What I mean is this:

By photographing, you are more connected to your life experiences.

I believe that photographing helps strengthen our memory. And we cannot exist without a memory.

Thirdly, photography can be used as a tool for social critique/commentary/feedback. I call this ‘visual sociology‘. By shooting street photography, we can better understand and analyze society around us.
