    Hi Eric,

As an aspiring street photographer living in Chicago, I wanted to drop you line just to say you’ve really done some great work! I found your link after reading your article entitled “10 Tips for Aspiring Street Photographers” on the DPS website. I’m looking forwarded to reading the articles you’ve written in previous posts. While, I’m not planning to quit my day job just yet, my current goals are to learn all I can about this niche in photography in order to improve my skills in the street. I’ve found that as long as I keep at it, I will continue to become more comfortable shooting in public.

Questions – do you frequently encounter people who are questioning the reason you are shooting at a specific location? Do you ever handout business cards to these people? Keep us updated on the book!

Out of all the kinds of photography I have done, it is the day to day street photography that I enjoy the most. I am thankful to have found you via twitter, and to join this great community of people! Thanks!

Oh, and I am in Los Angeles, CA too! Thanks for adding me.

    Hi,
my name is Zisis Kardianos and I live in Zakinthos, Greece.
I took up photography in the 80′s, when I also had some formal education. Then I stopped for many years and started again digital six years ago.
I shoot around my home town a lot, especially in fairs and during summer when it gets really busy with tourists.
But I’m having more fun and I feel more creative when I’m photographing during my travels around Europe.
Street life in Mediterranean cities is my very broad plan. Out of which occasional or more thought over themes evolve.
I have recently collected the best of this work in a book titled “travelog”

Primarily a street photographer, I habitually refer to myself as a dilettante as, aside from anything else, its currently the truth. Photography is my therapy and I’m slowly aspiring to broaden my creative wings. Street is my favoured genre, but new things are afoot.

Based in Manchester (ish), England (not the UK – thats NOT a country!)

    • writerman242

I truly dig what you say here Chris. Hope the therapy is working. I’ve not been as relaxed and as happy as I am now (taking photos again) for a very very long time

    Eric,

Thank you for the page of links — nice to see how many different appproaches to street photography there are. And your essays are excellent — keep them coming. You do primarily B&W — but how about an essay on the decision to process a photograph as B&W vs color? And/or how about one on how much post-processing — that should elicit a lot of different opinions.

I’ve been doing photography off/on since my teens. In college it was often an escape from what I was supposed to be studing — I knew I was spending too much time in the darkroom when I started dreaming in black and white negative. I thought grain was really arty back then and shot a lot of TriX in a Minox (8x11mm negative)..

After a few lapses, I became re-addicted to photography about twelve years ago. My photography interests are pretty wide — from landscapes and macros to general travel and street photography (which I define pretty widely, leaving out the ‘urban’ part).

Very recently I added a “Street and Candid Photography” section to my website: http://www.arovingvision.com/Street/index.html

I’m in Kingston, Washington, and now and then sell some prints through an art gallery in Bremerton — Collective Visions. And I’ve used my photos recently for some illustrated public travel lectures: “From the Orinoco to the Amazon,” and “Walking to Santiago.”

Hi, I started off shooting street photography tears ago in London, before I even knew there was such a thing called street photography. I was an aspiring photographer at the time and wandering the streets taking photos was free. You didn’t need an accreditation! Now I am work as a press photographer working in Spain but I still like to wander the streets when I get time. Street photography doesn’t generally fit in with my work but it’s my passion.
