What is the Optimal Way to Live Your Life?

Some recent thoughts on life:

Perhaps the goal of life is artistic productivity and innovation?

It seems that we adapt to all the gear, equipment, and things/tools in life.

What don’t we adapt to? Artistic productivity — producing lots of art, and artistic innovation (discovering new aesthetics, new techniques, new ideas, new approaches, etc).

For myself, I’m only happy when I’m creating or innovating. When I’m creating new images (drawings, photos, sketches), or when I’m coming up with new and innovative ideas.

Artistic power

To me, the most important type of power is artistic-physiological power. If I don’t have the strength, the willpower, or the creative ideas/juices flowing in me, I feel depressed. For myself, I define depression as the physiological feeling of the inability to create, act, move, do, transform, or transmute the world around you.

And the best way to conquer depression? Build up your physical and physiological strength (8+ hours of sleep, plenty of rest and recovery, but also strength building exercises), don’t consume weakening foods/drinks/ drugs, and to create!

Creation is the end-game

It seems the final end-game of every individual or artist is creation — artistic creation.

For example, creating your home as an art-object, gardening (creation of plant life in an arranged and artistic manner), through art-creation via photo-video-drawing, etc. Almost anything done intentionally to create something new can be considered art.

The optimal strategy in life

So it seems the optimal strategy in life is to maximize your artistic output (however you define this). Whatever makes you more productive in art is good — so optimize for this. For example living a nomadic life seems to stimulate my creative powers, so it is a “better” mode of living for myself.

Also I optimize my diet (ketogenic diet + intermittent fasting) in order to help me be more artistically productive. Also because I’m more productive when I sleep more (8+ hours a night), I optimize my lifestyle for sleep.

Sleep, the optimal nutrition + exercise and mode of living is essential to my creative thrivival — thus I optimize my life to what matters most to me at the expense of money, possessions, etc.

A simple focus for photographers + writers

Make more photos, process more photos, and publish more photos if your focus and passion is photography. Write more if you consider writing as an artistic form of expression.

More turbo thoughts to come.
