FILM NOTES: Monochrome Paradise

FILM NOTES: monochrome paradise
The grain is so exotic, and ever so nice.

Shooting film might be expensive,
Eat more beans and rice

But the silver gelatin will entice
You
Creativity: you must pay the price.

Why do I love to shoot film?
Because it helps me lose track of time
Analogue nostalgia; turn back the wings of time.

With film I’m not blinded
By the LCD screen,
Life is real
No green screen.

With 35 mill, you will get 35 shots of pure thrill.
A roll of film might cost you 5 dollar bills
But it will make you photos that make you happy– keep it trill.

Kyoto, 2015

You don’t need a film Leica MP,
just dust off some old film cameras
And get a roll of TRI-X, maybe 2, or three.

Buzz around the streets like a street photography bee
Look for your visual honey
And when you shoot, try to get the money
Shot
Shoot without too many thoughts
In your mind
Turn off your brain
Sometimes it can blind
You from seeing good shit.
Focus on you resorting: avoid the misses, get the hits.

When you shoot film, you don’t need a Sekonic
Just use a free light meter app,
Make your own visual rhythm on the streets, super-sonic.

I can’t promise shooting with film will make you better,
But I can guarantee you, it will help your creative weather
It will give you a new breeze in your photography,
And film looks better than digital– or maybe it’s just me.

So what are you waiting for? Buy a copy of FILM NOTES, and check out Japan Camera Hunter— and unleash your photographic visual thunder.

Break your photographer’s block— asunder
And lock your digital cameras under
Your desk.
Let your eyes take a rest
From looking at a digital screen.

Prague

Rather, hold your rolls of film in your hand
And just scheme
Of photo project ideas
You got this my friend
So hit the streets, and do it again, and again.
