Street Photography Freestyle

eric kim street photography hanoi - old woman

Street photography,
Don’t care about what others say— just shoot freely.

No definitions or ways to shoot
whenever you see a good moment, just grab the loot.

Don’t give a hoot
about how many likes you get on the Instagram
or how many fans
you acquire
because no matter what
you won’t get enough likes to fill up a frequent flyer
Take your street photography higher
to a different spiritual plane

Make photos that will hit you straight in the brain
and in the soul.

Wear your camera around your neck
like a heavy chain
shoot in the streets
to take away your stress and the pain
of everyday life.

Street photography to me is spiritual and meditative
and a lot more effective than medication
or taking a fancy vacation.

Stay laced with inspiration
keep hustling in the streets
back wet with perspiration
and in street photography and life
never miss the next station
or your final destination.

Keep your spirit high with elation
and only shoot what you like
keep your photography moving forward
like a bike.

Keep moving forward.

Your city is boring
my city is boring
all of it is boring.

But no matter how boring your town is,
make the best use of it.

Use your boring town to your advantage.

Make interesting photos of boring things,
and treat your own city like your jungle gym rings.

Find pleasure in the mundane
shoot before thinking with your brain.

Some of your photos might not be good or lame
but that is fine
Keep your photos flowing like fine wine

When you shoot street photography,
don’t just dine and ditch
Stay hitched
to your subjects.

Chat with them, say hello
Or, “How’s it going bro?”

Talk to your subjects
they’re human beings
not photo-things
to be uploaded
to the cloud

So friend,
make me proud
make you proud
and say out-loud:
“I love street photography!
Everything beautiful in the world, I can make it be.”
