Shot by Rinzi Ruiz. Phenomenal light!

For the first day of my introductory street photography workshop, I was very impressed to see all the great photos everyone took! We were able to edit/post-process each of the photos with one another using Lightroom 3 and Silver Efex Pro, and the results look great. Read more to check out all of the photos!

* I’m having an Intermediate Street Photography Workshop in Downtown LA on August 27-28th. Shoot me an email at erickimphotography@gmail.com for more info!

Looks like a fun time. My favorite is Ibarionex Perello’s… 3rd down from top. Very nice shot.

    Beverly Komatsu – #3
    Daniel Schaefer – #5
    Derriel Almario – #3
    Eric Kim – #5
    Erin Xavier – #3
    Ibarionex Perello – #3
    Joel Sheiner – #1
    Marq Linden – #5
    Norman Estrologo – #4
    Rinzi Ruiz – #4

Many great photos. Hard to pick a favorite, but I think I’ll go with the 5th from Joel Sheiner.

  • http://www.mittleresgrau.de Till Schramm

Yes, hard to pick a favorite, really. Congrats to all participant

I’d go with Daniel Schaefer’s 5th picture, being the image that clicked with me the most.

I think Ibarionex Perello has the strongest photography overall, but lacks focus as a series.

I enjoyed Rob LaRosa pictures also. In my opinion, he presents the most concise series.

For the most part, I like the photo’s. My only issue would be with the first group. Two of them were shots of people’s backs with no interesting story to tell from that. Just a boring shot that anyone can do. Otherwise, nice work.

    Looks like everyone had fun.

    My picks:

    Almario – 1, 2, 5 … i like the juxtaposition shots
Perello – 2 … bald headed guy contrasts against the dark background
    Ruiz – 4, 5 … perfect timing on #4 and a juxtaposition shot on #5

Looks like a great time was had by everyone.

most are ok.. nothing exceptional though. But then since i live in Calcutta, in comparison this place looks just too tame.

    • http://erickimphotography.com/blog Eric Kim

      Most definitely ;)

  • Elconnero

I cant wait to come to the next one you have.

  • Beto P. Bass

Rinzi’s photos, by far, stand out with that extra “something” that not everyone can produce by just purchasing a fancy camera. great shots!

    My favourites are:
    1) La Rosa – the shot with the girls and the “passenger loading only” sign.
    2) Xavier – the shot of the girl walking on the big yellow arrow on the road

(and of course Eric’s shot of the “attitude” lady with big earrings)

Komatsu #4- Don’t have to be blurry or B&W to be good street
Schaefer #3- strong composition and details
Almario #1- toss up with #3 for great color and interesting subject,
but the composition and mood of #1 won out
Kim #3- Reflections and almost hidden subject
Xavier #2- I’m a sucker for the off kilter point of view and the light and composition are great
Perello #2- Great use of negative space
Sheiner #2- Juxtaposition of dueling subjects and interesting graffiti
Linden #2- Interplay with the subject
Estrologo #2- Composition and ambiguity of subject, reflection like quality
Ruiz #1- Color, light, expression… feels like you were there
LaRosa #5- Seperatio of subject by framing
Hatakeyama Really hard to pick, could be #1 for off kilter and mood or #4 for the movie like scene evolving, but I keep being drawn to #3 because its sounc an intimate portrait feel it makes me want to talk to the guy.
My overall personal favorite is Estrologo #2, but I honestly think Sheiner #2 is too close not to mention.
Great work by all. And it does look like you hade fun.

What a great selection of shots. Looks like you guys had a blast!

One of my faves is definitely Derriel Almario #4. Love the expression through the window and the relfection in the glass. Nearly a double exposure effect. Really feeling this one.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lauri.saksa Lauri Saksa

I think Derriel Almario #4 is really the strongest of the set. Nice colour in the light and a really surreal feeling. This is a really nice moment when everything came together.
