Nice selection. I particularly like “Hectic”– it gives me that feeling of aprehension i have as I’m about to try to dash across a busy street. The challenge, I think, of travel street photography is to catch the ordinary in a place that is exotic to us, and to capture a sense of place as well as the direct subject of the photo.
Most of the photos in the selction of street/candid photos on my website are travel street/candid — only one is from my home turf of Seattle: http://www.arovingvision.com/Street/index.html

First of all, thank you so much for including my photo!
All the images are amazing. My favorites are Thomas Leuthard’s “Hitchcock” and Chio Gonzalez’s “Business”. Both have very similar aesthetics, and there’s something about it that really catches my interest.
Another favorite is “Hectic” by Fokko Muller. You can really feel the energy there, and the panning is excellent!

Thank you for the featuring my photo Eric!
I really like all the pictures here, but my favorite is “Hitchcock” by Thomas Leuthard. I love the silhouette.
I love number two. Not sure if I could ever capture a picture like that. Would love to know if it was spur of the moment

Hi Natalie, thank you for your comment. Yes, it was spur of the moment. I was walking from the World Trade Center Site to Wall Street when I took this photo at the Red Cube Sculpture. This boy was with who appeared to be his sister and father. I was only able to shoot off 4 frames as he was running towards to the cube. My favorite from my entire series of NYC photos last year.

Thanks Eric for featuring my photo. Great to be a part of this great selection.
My favorites are ‘Hitchcock’ by Thomas Leuthard and the shot of Santi Garcia. I like the classic style of those.
I particularly like Business. The sea of people and the congruence and monotony of their actions is hypnotizing. It can be an editorial kind of photo because it captured the movement in a click. I see you have a brilliant selection right here. Keep celebrating the art!

Hi Eric,
I got introduced to street photography from your blog and what i have learned is from your posts. i often however fair to appreciate many photographs which many others think is great. I can say i have a reasonable eye for other genres but not so much for street. I havent read much about styles etc so help me. Suggest some readings or possibly let us have a post on what makes a street photograph work and what doesnt. lets say the case in point is denver above. or say bruges.

Hi Eric, meant to thank you for the feature! All the photos are great and well deserved. Last year when I took that photo in Lower Manhattan, I found that I was more comfortable practicing street photography while traveling. I was less self-conscious and felt that I blended into the crowd much easier then at home in Chicago. Now almost a year later, things have changed on the home front. I’m much less self-conscious out in the streets and have been able to create pictures that I never would have imagined were possible.
